Google updated their image search feature today so that you can search for images with Creative Commons or GNU Licenses that you can use for FREE. All these pics are tagged as being usable by anyone. You can even search for images that you may be allowed to modify.

To use this feature, visit http://images.google.com and go to Advanced Image Search. Then select the type of license that you are interested under “Usage Rights.”

LEGAL WARNING: Keep in mind that the person who tagged them might not actually have the rights to the image. So be careful. You may have the rights to the artists creation, but not to the unrestricted use of the building or model. So this search is probably fine if you are looking for a picture of a flower or animal, but if there is a person or a building in the pic, you still may want to use one of the stock photo sites out there.

Digital photography is one of my favorite hobbies.  Taking photos of the kids or an early morning sunrise is a great joy.  But taking the shots is just part of the fun.  Once they are on the computer I look forward to browsing, editing, and sharing them.  So once those digital pictures are loaded on the computer here’s some cool things you can do with them.

Sharing Digital Photos with a Photoblog

This morning I came across an article at Photojojo titled Project 365: How to Take a Photo a Day and See Your Life in a Whole New Way.  The article talks about the benefits and how to of taking a photo a day and where to post it.  This posting has a lot of good tips on creating your own Photoblog.

In the article the writer points about a couple photo sharing websites available.  Those sites are:

    • Flickr
    • Fotolog
    • Photoblog

Online Digital Photo Albums, Photo Sharing, and Digital Printing

There are numerous websites available online to share, print, create calendars, create greeting cards, and much more.  Two that I have used are Shutterfly and Snapfish.  These sites will allow you to do a great deal with your digital photos.  Other photo websites are:

    Organize Your Digital Photos

Organizing your digital photos can be done with Google’s Picasa.

Picasa is software that helps you instantly find, edit and share all the pictures on your PC. Every time you open Picasa, it automatically locates all your pictures (even ones you forgot you had) and sorts them into visual albums organized by date with folder names you will recognize. Picasa also makes advanced editing simple by putting one-click fixes and powerful effects at your fingertips.

There, now you have new cool digital photo tools to work with.  Have fun!

  • Snapfish - Digital and Film Photo Developing Made Easy

    Shawn Brown 8:09 pm on May 8, 2006 | 1 Permalink | Reply

I recently purchased some photos using Snapfish. For years I’ve used another online photo developing service. Recently I purchased a new camera where the file sizes are much larger. I was getting frustrated with the time it was taking to upload my photos so I began to look around. The discovery was SnapFish.

Using Snapfish I was given the option to reduce the file size at time of up loading the photos.  This made a huge difference uploading the photos.  Of course you don‘t have to pick that option if you want to make large prints.

The other really great feature I found was the shipment and pickup option. When given the shipment option you have a choice either to pick them up at Walgreen’s an hour later or have them sent in the mail. Now that’s great! No more waiting for the mailman.

Get your first 20 prints FREE! Plus, get 4×6″ prints as low as 12-cents!

Snapfish is a leading online photo service with more than 24 million members and one billion unique photos stored online. We enable our members to share, print and store their most important photo memories at the lowest prices – online or off. Snapfish offers professionally-developed digital camera prints as low as 10¢, film developing for just $2.99 per roll, free online photo sharing, unlimited online photo storage, free editing tools and software, wireless imaging services, and more than 80 personalized photo products, ranging from calendars, mugs and mousepads, to boxer shorts, dog leashes and teddy bears.
